THE LAST M IN MLM MEANS WHAT?

The nature of network marketing changed around 2005 - 2006.

How is that you say? well let me explain as briefly as possible.

In the beginning an MLM opportunity was a rare and interesting thing, So much so that people used it as part entertainment and would attend meetings several times a week. They would run around doing flyers in letters boxes, harass everyone they meet, attend endless meetings, put stickers on their family cars, endless cold calling, be out all night of the week doing presentations, etc.

The companies would provide product and payments and push warm market marketing and the people went along with it.

There would be a couple of opportunities come onto the scene every year and over time it increased as software and technology became more affordable and accessible to the masses.

Now opportunities were coming at the rate of several a quarter then several a month, to arriving at 2005 - 2006 several a week and now in 2009 it's a daily event.

Prior to 2005 - 2006 websites were built in a manner of cold market style, meaning that people must have been either warmed up and informed by the personal sales process prior to their arriving at the site for it to make any sense.

So the selling process was done by person to person and the site was there to join and place an order.

There were millions of people waiting for the next new deal to jump into and get going, how ever their get going life force got up and went by 2005 - 2006 when MLM as we know it changed for many people.

In 2005 - 2006 whoever things changed, critical mass was hitting its ceiling amongst the diehard networking fraternity and the age of cold market websites and promoting companies first was getting a frosty reception.

The thousands of MLM companies and millions of personal business failures had finally caught up with the shinny MLM juggernaught.

Prior to 2005 - 2006 everyone promoted up front and out right the company first or MLM deal they were in through their warm market contacts. (friends family work mates)

Prior to 2005 - 2006 the build up of MLM opportunities and failure rates had not reached critical mass and was not an issue.

In the beginning the industry enjoyed warm markets and all people needed was hot new deal a good MLM business and away they would go through their 100 name lists and onto big things.

2005 - 2006 MLM switched polarities because the thousands of companies and millions of failures had corrected the cart and horse effect back to its natural state, that of the horse before the cart.

The horse is the networker, the cart is the company.

People shall only come to the company through people yet the promotional methods being used where such that individual always insisted on promoting the company and the companies stuff first.

This has produced a progeny of MLM advocates that are now in desperate need of what the MLM industry had failed to deliver its core product. MARKETING.

Multi Level Marketing.

Million upon millions of MLM burnouts and current MLM subscribers need to learn marketing and they now know that.

The last thing an MLMer needs is another hot new deal, they used to think that the next new hot deal would save but now know that it is marketing that will save them and a new deal they can find at any given moment.

People no longer need a hot new deal they need hot new marketing tactics and skills they have come to realize this after only 50 years.

Give people marketing skills, copy writing skills, and tactics and then they are equipped to go promote anything they choose, because the choices are many and growing by the thousands every year..

A lot of people are still stuck in a pre 2005 - 2006 networking mode after going through many companies they still hold onto thinking the warm market routine will still work for them as it did pre 2005 - 2006.

Thats all well and good you go get your marketing skills and start promoting. They natural tendency after all those decades of reverse polarity MLM is you will probably go and promote the company and its stuff first.

Now you're still doing it back to front but now in fast forward..

So what happened around 2005 - 2006 ?

No one specific thing happened but rather a cumulative effect occurred topped off with the introduction the video marketing boom or what some now call web 2.0 or the social networking.

Here is something that can help you with marketing. Click HERE

NETWORK MARKETING IS FOR REAL!

If we were in a perfect world - the 'geometric progression' of 2 getting 2 getting 2 (or any other number) would yield great numbers... and carried out to the logical conclusion - everyone on planet Earth would join... Most successful MLM's wind up with hundreds of thousands if not millions of people world-wide involved with their company - but not in a 'perfect matrix' - generally there are 'leaders' who are willing to get really good at building others and sometimes there will be a few that will 'duplicate' what the leader has done... there is very little chance that the 'matrix' of a hierarchy will be built out 'evenly' among all comers - in fact, there are precious few people who ever get an organization of any size...

Part of how some people can earn a living or even better is due to the fact that they build a retail business regardless of recruiting..

In my company (financial services) I can make a 6-figure income from developing a client base - my products/services arena allows for this... on top of it I can hire others (they 'sign up' - start running!) to learn to do what I do... if you are willing to go through 'The Dip' (great book by Seth Godin) of the learning/doing curve and willing to hone your skill and knowledge, then 'you too' can earn a living wage... I can hire as many as i am willing to train.... no different than if I were a typical Investment Brokerage, Real Estate Broker, Insurance Broker (office)

If anyone ever bothered to check to see how many 'entry' level folks who enter Insurance, Real Estate, Investment industry and how many of them quit before they ever really get any return on 'their investment' (State & Federal license fees) it would most likely rival the numbers in MLM as far as 'turnover' goes... at least a person can start part-time with my company and not 'lose their house, job, family' if they don't become' successful... no big investment but some time to see if they are willing to dedicate the time to become a professional.  So far there is little differentiation between Real World business & MLM...

Where it deviates from the conventional business is when I find someone who can build a team like I've done - and they happen to be on my team - they will want to do what I've done - run their own office... they can, by fulfilling the company promotion guidelines they can 'take' their Regional Vice President contract and open their own office...

Now we are on 'the same contract level' - in the real world I would have just lost... I lost my 'best guy' and trained my own competition... however in the MLM world - My company pays me a % of everything this guy's entire office does but it does not come out of his profits! He now runs his own biz and I 'override' his business - kind of like getting a 'franchise royalty'...

The question you should have is - how can the company pay me anything on top of what he does when we are at 'the same level'? Good question:

The company does not advertise - every company generally will take between 3% to 30% of their revenue (depending on the industry) and plow it back into Advertising, Marketing & Sales...

My company is no different - they could say - "Jake, you made $100,000 this past year - do you want us to take, say, $30,000 and run some TV ads and some magazine ads and see if we can get your phone ringing?" - And I would say - Heck No!! That’s my money... I'll develop the client base and hire and train others....

The company already has a 'built-in' allowance to 'reward' me for finding, training and developing other business leaders - instead of spending the 3% to 30% on advertising & marketing - that money can be 'set aside' to pay me when I help another 'franchise location' 'distribution center' 'office' or 'sales organization' get on their feet and produce business... I can repeat this as many times as i'm willing to dedicate the time & effort it takes to help someone else reach the level of running an office... (generally about 2-3 years)

This is how my company tends to work – I am not saying that there are not flaws in MLM when it comes to ‘selling’ the compound geometric growth projections… they tend to make it sound ‘easy’ “if you get just two people who just get two people’ – sure this makes it seem like ‘easy money’ – we all know, no matter what compensation model, business model etc we get involved in… to make a six figure income or even a living wage below that takes a real dedicated effort to become a pro in the chosen profession…

But, because most MLM’s products are small ticket items… it is very difficult to ‘sell enough’ products on your own to make much of a living and to ‘control’ enough other people (Read: influence enough others to influence enough others) to sell the product is very difficult…

Maybe picking a product/service that has a higher profit margin can give you the ability to allow you to make a living ‘selling’ while you as ‘building’ an organization…

I believe the most letdowns are in the ‘expectations’ we have as a naïve, new to the industry (of mlm) participants ‘buying into the company line’ that it’s easy and ‘all you need to do is….’

I hope this helps you grasp the reason why MLM could be a good way to monetize a business…

THE THREE COMMON TRAITS SHARED BY “MOM & POP” WEB SITES EARNING $100,000 TO $600,000 A YEAR

I would like to share some personal insights with you that I believe will really help you to move forward in your online business goals. The spark of inspiration for this editorial came when I was reviewing the interviews we have conducted for our new private site "Secrets To Their Success" where each month we interview two real people who have had extraordinary success on the Internet.

Each interview tells a real-life story of hard work and dedication, but there are also messages that are not so obvious at first glance. It is these underlying “common threads” that really interested me. I wondered, “What are the common traits shared by these one and two-person Internet business owners that have allowed them to build web sites that generate incomes of $100,000 to $600,000 each and every year?” Since they sell everything from body building programs to designer soaps to courses on daytrading, “what” they are selling is important, but it is not the key factor in their success.

Their ages, formal education, or prior knowledge of the Internet did not appear to be relevant to the ability of these men and women to make money online either. The closer I read, the more it became obvious that besides all of the strategies and techniques these people reveal as part of their “success formula,” there are actually three common traits shared by all of their success stories that have allowed them to grow their businesses to generate such extraordinary incomes…

Trait #1 - They just plain got started.

Most of the people we interviewed had little or no prior knowledge of the Internet. Typically, this was their first Internet business. Some had never even turned on a computer! And that is the first point I want you to know. It doesn’t matter what your knowledge level is when you start — the important point is you need to begin. You don’t have to do everything well. In fact, you don’t have to do anything well when you start! But you have to START. Take the first steps (no matter how small) to move your web site dream into reality. You don’t need to wait until you know “everything.”

These successful netrepreneurs did not wait until their web sites were “perfect” or until they knew everything there was to know about selling on the Internet before they got started; they’re living proof that you don’t need to be an Internet marketing guru to start making money online. I am sure you, too, have a great idea that has been percolating in your brain. You just need to start.

Trait #2 - They focused on one thing and did it well.

The second common thread I want you to know about is that each one of these people focused on just one marketing strategy at a time, did it well, maximized profits, and then moved on to the next one. That’s why they also said that they know there is so much more they can do. There are many ways you can promote your web site:
· Some of them will give you a quick traffic boost (such as pay-per-click search engines);

· Others will establish your reputation more slowly (such as writing articles and providing free content for other webmasters);

· While others (such as finding strategic partners who will link to your site) will pay off well into the future for the work you do today.
That’s the good news! You don’t have to put a lot of pressure on yourself believing that you have to do it all or know it all.

To follow their lead, focus on just one marketing strategy such as submitting your site to the search engines, publishing your own newsletter, or learning about how to write effective sales copy… and then really master it. Learn all you can and apply the knowledge as you learn it. This is how you can generate $100,000+ from your online business — by focusing on one marketing strategy at a time.

Start by choosing the theme of your web site and then strive to become the dominant site serving your niche market. Next, make a list of all the different ways to increase the sales to your web site and then decide which one will make you the most money and start with that one. Leave the rest on your “to-do” list until you have squeezed every dollar out of the traffic generation technique, sales strategy, or design element you are working on. There will always be loads of other ideas just waiting for you to use to earn even more profits.

Trait# 3 - They wish they had modeled success sooner.

These successful candidates confess to having made mistakes — costly, frustrating, and time wasting mistakes that could have been easily avoided. This is the hard way to learn. After all, you don’t have to be the one who makes the mistake to learn from it. It is much easier to learn from other people’s mistakes. They all said that they could have been earning a MUCH bigger income MUCH faster if they had only started their Internet education earlier and modeled the success of others.

And that leads us to the third common thread I want to share with you which is… all of these people have committed to educating themselves in the most profitable marketing strategies and techniques. You don’t need to personally conduct your own “trial and error” experiments to discover what software to use, which online resources are the most helpful, or which overall web site designs are producing the best results in today’s competitive Internet environment.

Others have already cut a path through the Internet jungle for you. Just get on the right trail and apply the strategies and techniques as you learn about them. Great ideas are transferable. What works for others can be adapted for your site, too.

Final Thoughts:

Building a successful online business is more of a journey than a destination. What works today may or may not work tomorrow. That’s why the learning process never stops. The fact that the Internet continuously changes is the number one advantage you have over your competition if you stay ahead of the learning curve and they don’t.

Make a commitment to continuous learning. Study top sites like the ones on Secrets To Their Success and model your web site after them. These successful entrepreneurs are regular people who did not start out with multi-million dollar advertising budgets, huge staffs, or advanced technical knowledge. In fact, most of them started out with almost no budget, by themselves, and with little prior knowledge of marketing on the Internet.

Your site does not have to be perfect to make money, but you can’t make money until you start!

ARE EXCUSES HOLDING YOU BACK

The funny thing about excuses is they can make even the wisest of men look like a fool.

Have you ever been expecting promised results from someone when to your bewilderment they only produced excuses. Well, no matter how well thought out or extravagant they sound to the person giving them, they always look foolish to the one on the receiving end.

As far as behavioral patterns are concerned I would say there are two categories; one produces results and the other produces excuses. Both kinds of people are very predictable. That’s because these are behaviors embedded in the very character of a person. You know that if the first kind of person tells you they are on the job its as good as knowing satisfaction is guaranteed. And of course in the very same way the second type of person no matter what they promise typically always produces to their own determent the same sorry excuses.

Excuses are a terrible type of achievement destroying cancer that ruins the potentials of all who fall victim to it’s grip. It’s one of those character flaws or habitual deformities that not only destroys one’s future but their reputation as well.

We’ve all listened to an ear full from the people that go on and on about how no one appreciates their efforts and they work so hard but no one sees. These are the same people that when asked about the goals they’ve achieved or the results they’ve produced there just doesn’t seem to be any significant results to show for.

Do NOT mistake your efforts for results! Do NOT be one of those people who always has an excuse ready but no real drive to produce.

Do NOT allow excuses to destroy the potential of everything you are capable of achieving.

Responsibility is the victorious side. It’s never too late to cross over! Success is the inevitable result of responsible living.

In life, in relationships, in business! Cheers!

WHAT IS YOUR ATTITUDE LIKE?

Michael is the kind of guy you love to hate. He is always in a good Mood, and always has something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, "If I were any better, I would be Twin’s!" He was a natural motivator. If an employee was having a bad day, Michael was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation.

Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Michael and asked him, "I don't get it! You can't be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?" Michael replied, "Each morning I wake up and say to myself! You have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or... you can choose to be in a bad mood. I choose to be in a good mood.

Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or.... I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it. Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or... I can point out the positive side of life. I choose the positive side of life.

"Yeah, right, it's not that easy," I protested. "Yes, it is," Michael, said. "Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It's your choice how you live your life."

I reflected on what Michael said. Soon thereafter, I left the Tower Industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but I often thought about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it.

Several years later, I heard that Michael was involved in a serious accident, falling some sixty feet from a communications tower. After eighteen hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, Michael was released from the hospital with rods placed in his back. I saw Michael about six months after the accident. When I asked him how he was, he replied, "If I were any better, I'd be twins. Want to see my scars?" I declined to see his wounds, but I did ask him what had gone through his mind as the accident took place.

"The first thing that went through my mind was the well-being of my soon to be born daughter, "Michael replied. "Then, as I lay on the ground, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live or I could choose to die. I chose to live!"

"Weren't you scared? Did you lose consciousness?" I asked. Michael continued,"...the paramedics were great”. They kept telling me I was going to be fine, But when they wheeled me into the ER I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses. I got really scared. In their eyes, I read, "he's a dead man." I knew I needed to take action.

"What did you do?" I asked. "Well, there was a big burly nurse shouting questions at me. She asked if I was allergic to anything. "Yes," I replied. The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled, "Gravity." Over their laughter, I told them, "I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead."

Michael lived, thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude. I learned from him that everyday we have the choice to live fully. Attitude, after all, is everything. "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

(Matthew 6:34) Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO DO NOTHING AND MAKE BIG MONEY?

Have you heard and seen all the claims; you can make money by doing nothing, I will do the work for you, I will pay your way in, you will get spill over.

I see them all the time! And I know you can't be a millionaire without doing anything! You can't earn a few thousands without any work!

You have to learn the skills to make money if that is what you want.

I am working with a team that knows the skills, and we work together as a team to make money and success in our businesses. When people join me I ask if they are ready to do the work, because the team and I will not do all the work for them. So if they are not prepared to do anything they will fail.

But we will work together with them and help them and teach them if they are ready for it. That is the safest way they will succeed with their business. I also have some additional things I can show them. I will be there to show those who join me the way I work and help them to learn the skills if they do not have them already.

Do not believe in those who tell you they will do the work for you. You will lose money and time.

Learn it yourself and you can build any company / business you want in the future. Bet in touch if you would like to join me in business

Decide what you want, decide what you are willing to exchange for it. Establish your priorities and go to WORK.

Wish you a great life!

FRIEND SPAMING

One of the things that I have become (begrudgingly) used to in forums and networking groups is the overwhelming number of ads I see. Now, I am not talking about people posting ads as forum content, I am referring to ads sent as a personal message after friendship has been accepted, or as an invitation itself.

I don't know about you, but I join forums and networks to meet people; people I can share ideas with. I definitely do not join them to meet business opportunities or sales pitches from strangers who have asked me to be their friend. That is not networking. That is advertising; poor advertising.

System emailer's are not ad blasters; at least they weren't meant to be. Sadly, that is what they've become in many places.

In one particular forum, after having posted of my home dilemma and asking for help through a $5.00 purchase of my book, I have suffered a deluge of business opportunity offers that I had never imagined possible. It really freaks me out, and this is why:

I wrote about the fact that I am about to be a foreclosure statistic. My husband is unemployed due to the housing market collapse, and these folks seem to think I have money to invest in a program, or opportunity. I'm having trouble keeping Cheerios on the table and a roof over that table, and I'm supposed to invest (what?) in the latest greatest...

Now, not everyone has responded with such out-thereness, and I appreciate every last person who has helped me in my mission to save my house. There have been many who have answered my call, and to you: I think you're totally awesome! Thank you! Some of you have bought my book and even liked it! Some of you are promoting my book along with me, even though there is no commission in it for you. Some of you have done both. I love you all. I couldn't ask for better friends than you.

To those of you who are enjoying the paperback version, please let me know what you think of the book itself. The quality of the printing. I think the printers did a good job, but my opinion doesn't matter here; yours does.

I have a goal to sell 30,000 copies of the book I self-published last year. When I do this, unless it takes too long, I will be able to save my home, and fix my car. I may also be able to send a little cash to my 19 year old son, for college expenses. (He just lost his job too, when the price of copper fell, the mine started laying off.)

So I am flat broke, and people think it is helpful to send me offers to spend money? I just don't get it. Why did they invite me to be friends? Why do they read what I write? Do they even read it, or just skim through it to make sure I'm not their competition?

Networking is about building relationships with like-minded people; it's about learning and sharing information; its not about selling. Get to know those you invite to be friends. Get to know those who have invited you to be friends; the people, not the products. You might learn something, or help someone else. Now, that's networking.

It's not about the number of friends you have, it is about the quality of the friends you have. To have good quality friends, you must first be a quality friend.
