FIVE WAYS TO OVERCOME THE FEAR OF CHASING YOUR DREAM

Five Ways To Overcome The Fear Of Chasing Your Dream By STEVEN BERGLAS

The only thing to fear is fear itself. That’s easy for folks who say these sorts of things: They’ve made it. That’s why they’re quoted.

You haven’t made it yet. But you know there’s something in you that’s bigger than your cubicle, your office, your house. You know your idea is good and your vision clear. But you can’t muster the courage to chase the dream.

Maybe you can’t get past what feels like a perfectly rational concern about abandoning a paycheck—the link between you and neat things like food and rent.

Maybe you tried once before but were thwarted, discouraged, bankrupted, embarrassed. Maybe you don’t think you have the stuff to make your dreams come true. And maybe you don’t.

But that’s what taking risks is all about. And that’s why many who do end up reaping such grand rewards. For inspiration from real risk-takers who swallowed hard and prospered, see the slide show below.

In Pictures: 39 Entrepreneurs, Executives, Celebrities, Athletes And Politicians Share The Greatest Risks They Ever Took

http://www.forbes.com/2011/03/07/greatest-risk-they-ever-took-2011-entrepreneurs_slide.html

Truth? Paychecks, three squares a day, a roof over your head and a bullet-proof ego are all very nice. But security is an illusion, and it enslaves even the best and brightest.

I’ve worked with scores of entrepreneurs and executives who had trapped themselves in mental cages. The same sorts of “cognitive errors” corrupt all of our risk-reward calculations—no matter who you are, how big the risk or how badly you’d like to take it.

Here are five reminders that will keep your dreams front, center and alive. (Not looking to start a business? Not to worry: These will help you anyway.

Your fear of taking action is a result of watching yourself fail to act–not the other way around.

People assume that emotions initiate behavior–we see a tiger, tell ourselves we fear it, and then run. Nope. The well-documented James-Lange theory of emotion demonstrates that things are the other way around. We see a tiger, run like hell, notice our heart rate leap to 160 beats per minute, and then conclude we’re terrified.

The single best way to boost courage? Take baby steps toward realizing the goal every chance you get. When steps become strides you’ll realize how courageous you are.

Your fear of losing a paycheck is exaggerated.

Psychologists have demonstrated that most phobias are not as threatening as we imagine. So why the terror? It comes from the cognitive error known as Black-or-White thinking: seeing things in all-or-nothing terms.

Example: If you give up a steady income you’ll be impoverished, right? Wrong. If you challenge every black-or-white assumption you make, you’ll find a middle ground that can relieve dread. Paying bills is tougher without a steady income, but that’s what loans, temp work, and other adaptations are for.

I suggest addressing the issue of financial need before you start amplifying your courage: List all the ways you can cover your bills with short-term tactics. Your range of options will shock you.

Your fear of launching a start-up stems from knowing someone whose new venture fell flatter than a crepe.

For some reason, when humans are anxious or depressed we tend to focus on negative aspects of the world and ignore everything else. Not only does this darken our mood, it blocks us from moving in a positive direction. To combat this cognitive error, accentuate the positive.

Count up the number of people who have praised your idea. Remind yourself of every time you exceeded expectations (go back to Little League, if you have to). Once you start looking at donuts and ignoring the holes, you will amass a list of positive outcomes that you can then convert into favorable attributes.

You won’t sacrifice a paycheck because it would be “wrong, reckless, irresponsible, etc.”

One of the more common cognitive errors is a psychodynamic conflict first described by famed neo-Freudian analyst Karen Horney: It’s called The tyranny of shoulds. Dr. Horney pointed out that many of us are stuck in ruts because we tell ourselves we “should” (or “should not”) do something, but this self-recrimination is just plain wrong. Classic example: “I should never doubt myself.”

According to that admonition, the simple act of being cautious and planning ahead, according to the tyranny of shoulds, is in violation of a mental law you carry around. As a result you denigrate yourself (“I’m such a coward”) but don’t make progress.

To escape from this trap, simply ask yourself “Why?” each time you say you should or shouldn’t. It’s hard to not laugh at yourself when the only answer you come up with is “because”, delivered in the voice of an obstinate child. If you challenge the tyranny of shoulds it won’t take long to see them for what they are: Vestigial remnants of when you wore short pants. That awareness should free you to begin moving inexorably toward your goal.

No one daydreams while watching a Super Bowl game that goes into the fourth quarter with the score tied.

If you constantly dream of launching a business while working your steady job, what does that tell you about the gig? We only dream of greener pastures when the garden we’re in is full of weeds.

If you have fantasies of getting out of a rut, you will, in one of two ways: engaging in self-sabotage until you get fired, or conquering your fears and launching the business of your dreams.

So what’ll it be?

THE LAST M IN MLM MEANS WHAT?

The nature of network marketing changed around 2005 - 2006.

How is that you say? well let me explain as briefly as possible.

In the beginning an MLM opportunity was a rare and interesting thing, So much so that people used it as part entertainment and would attend meetings several times a week. They would run around doing flyers in letters boxes, harass everyone they meet, attend endless meetings, put stickers on their family cars, endless cold calling, be out all night of the week doing presentations, etc.

The companies would provide product and payments and push warm market marketing and the people went along with it.

There would be a couple of opportunities come onto the scene every year and over time it increased as software and technology became more affordable and accessible to the masses.

Now opportunities were coming at the rate of several a quarter then several a month, to arriving at 2005 - 2006 several a week and now in 2009 it's a daily event.

Prior to 2005 - 2006 websites were built in a manner of cold market style, meaning that people must have been either warmed up and informed by the personal sales process prior to their arriving at the site for it to make any sense.

So the selling process was done by person to person and the site was there to join and place an order.

There were millions of people waiting for the next new deal to jump into and get going, how ever their get going life force got up and went by 2005 - 2006 when MLM as we know it changed for many people.

In 2005 - 2006 whoever things changed, critical mass was hitting its ceiling amongst the diehard networking fraternity and the age of cold market websites and promoting companies first was getting a frosty reception.

The thousands of MLM companies and millions of personal business failures had finally caught up with the shinny MLM juggernaught.

Prior to 2005 - 2006 everyone promoted up front and out right the company first or MLM deal they were in through their warm market contacts. (friends family work mates)

Prior to 2005 - 2006 the build up of MLM opportunities and failure rates had not reached critical mass and was not an issue.

In the beginning the industry enjoyed warm markets and all people needed was hot new deal a good MLM business and away they would go through their 100 name lists and onto big things.

2005 - 2006 MLM switched polarities because the thousands of companies and millions of failures had corrected the cart and horse effect back to its natural state, that of the horse before the cart.

The horse is the networker, the cart is the company.

People shall only come to the company through people yet the promotional methods being used where such that individual always insisted on promoting the company and the companies stuff first.

This has produced a progeny of MLM advocates that are now in desperate need of what the MLM industry had failed to deliver its core product. MARKETING.

Multi Level Marketing.

Million upon millions of MLM burnouts and current MLM subscribers need to learn marketing and they now know that.

The last thing an MLMer needs is another hot new deal, they used to think that the next new hot deal would save but now know that it is marketing that will save them and a new deal they can find at any given moment.

People no longer need a hot new deal they need hot new marketing tactics and skills they have come to realize this after only 50 years.

Give people marketing skills, copy writing skills, and tactics and then they are equipped to go promote anything they choose, because the choices are many and growing by the thousands every year..

A lot of people are still stuck in a pre 2005 - 2006 networking mode after going through many companies they still hold onto thinking the warm market routine will still work for them as it did pre 2005 - 2006.

Thats all well and good you go get your marketing skills and start promoting. They natural tendency after all those decades of reverse polarity MLM is you will probably go and promote the company and its stuff first.

Now you're still doing it back to front but now in fast forward..

So what happened around 2005 - 2006 ?

No one specific thing happened but rather a cumulative effect occurred topped off with the introduction the video marketing boom or what some now call web 2.0 or the social networking.

Here is something that can help you with marketing. Click HERE

NETWORK MARKETING IS FOR REAL!

If we were in a perfect world - the 'geometric progression' of 2 getting 2 getting 2 (or any other number) would yield great numbers... and carried out to the logical conclusion - everyone on planet Earth would join... Most successful MLM's wind up with hundreds of thousands if not millions of people world-wide involved with their company - but not in a 'perfect matrix' - generally there are 'leaders' who are willing to get really good at building others and sometimes there will be a few that will 'duplicate' what the leader has done... there is very little chance that the 'matrix' of a hierarchy will be built out 'evenly' among all comers - in fact, there are precious few people who ever get an organization of any size...

Part of how some people can earn a living or even better is due to the fact that they build a retail business regardless of recruiting..

In my company (financial services) I can make a 6-figure income from developing a client base - my products/services arena allows for this... on top of it I can hire others (they 'sign up' - start running!) to learn to do what I do... if you are willing to go through 'The Dip' (great book by Seth Godin) of the learning/doing curve and willing to hone your skill and knowledge, then 'you too' can earn a living wage... I can hire as many as i am willing to train.... no different than if I were a typical Investment Brokerage, Real Estate Broker, Insurance Broker (office)

If anyone ever bothered to check to see how many 'entry' level folks who enter Insurance, Real Estate, Investment industry and how many of them quit before they ever really get any return on 'their investment' (State & Federal license fees) it would most likely rival the numbers in MLM as far as 'turnover' goes... at least a person can start part-time with my company and not 'lose their house, job, family' if they don't become' successful... no big investment but some time to see if they are willing to dedicate the time to become a professional.  So far there is little differentiation between Real World business & MLM...

Where it deviates from the conventional business is when I find someone who can build a team like I've done - and they happen to be on my team - they will want to do what I've done - run their own office... they can, by fulfilling the company promotion guidelines they can 'take' their Regional Vice President contract and open their own office...

Now we are on 'the same contract level' - in the real world I would have just lost... I lost my 'best guy' and trained my own competition... however in the MLM world - My company pays me a % of everything this guy's entire office does but it does not come out of his profits! He now runs his own biz and I 'override' his business - kind of like getting a 'franchise royalty'...

The question you should have is - how can the company pay me anything on top of what he does when we are at 'the same level'? Good question:

The company does not advertise - every company generally will take between 3% to 30% of their revenue (depending on the industry) and plow it back into Advertising, Marketing & Sales...

My company is no different - they could say - "Jake, you made $100,000 this past year - do you want us to take, say, $30,000 and run some TV ads and some magazine ads and see if we can get your phone ringing?" - And I would say - Heck No!! That’s my money... I'll develop the client base and hire and train others....

The company already has a 'built-in' allowance to 'reward' me for finding, training and developing other business leaders - instead of spending the 3% to 30% on advertising & marketing - that money can be 'set aside' to pay me when I help another 'franchise location' 'distribution center' 'office' or 'sales organization' get on their feet and produce business... I can repeat this as many times as i'm willing to dedicate the time & effort it takes to help someone else reach the level of running an office... (generally about 2-3 years)

This is how my company tends to work – I am not saying that there are not flaws in MLM when it comes to ‘selling’ the compound geometric growth projections… they tend to make it sound ‘easy’ “if you get just two people who just get two people’ – sure this makes it seem like ‘easy money’ – we all know, no matter what compensation model, business model etc we get involved in… to make a six figure income or even a living wage below that takes a real dedicated effort to become a pro in the chosen profession…

But, because most MLM’s products are small ticket items… it is very difficult to ‘sell enough’ products on your own to make much of a living and to ‘control’ enough other people (Read: influence enough others to influence enough others) to sell the product is very difficult…

Maybe picking a product/service that has a higher profit margin can give you the ability to allow you to make a living ‘selling’ while you as ‘building’ an organization…

I believe the most letdowns are in the ‘expectations’ we have as a naïve, new to the industry (of mlm) participants ‘buying into the company line’ that it’s easy and ‘all you need to do is….’

I hope this helps you grasp the reason why MLM could be a good way to monetize a business…

THE THREE COMMON TRAITS SHARED BY “MOM & POP” WEB SITES EARNING $100,000 TO $600,000 A YEAR

I would like to share some personal insights with you that I believe will really help you to move forward in your online business goals. The spark of inspiration for this editorial came when I was reviewing the interviews we have conducted for our new private site "Secrets To Their Success" where each month we interview two real people who have had extraordinary success on the Internet.

Each interview tells a real-life story of hard work and dedication, but there are also messages that are not so obvious at first glance. It is these underlying “common threads” that really interested me. I wondered, “What are the common traits shared by these one and two-person Internet business owners that have allowed them to build web sites that generate incomes of $100,000 to $600,000 each and every year?” Since they sell everything from body building programs to designer soaps to courses on daytrading, “what” they are selling is important, but it is not the key factor in their success.

Their ages, formal education, or prior knowledge of the Internet did not appear to be relevant to the ability of these men and women to make money online either. The closer I read, the more it became obvious that besides all of the strategies and techniques these people reveal as part of their “success formula,” there are actually three common traits shared by all of their success stories that have allowed them to grow their businesses to generate such extraordinary incomes…

Trait #1 - They just plain got started.

Most of the people we interviewed had little or no prior knowledge of the Internet. Typically, this was their first Internet business. Some had never even turned on a computer! And that is the first point I want you to know. It doesn’t matter what your knowledge level is when you start — the important point is you need to begin. You don’t have to do everything well. In fact, you don’t have to do anything well when you start! But you have to START. Take the first steps (no matter how small) to move your web site dream into reality. You don’t need to wait until you know “everything.”

These successful netrepreneurs did not wait until their web sites were “perfect” or until they knew everything there was to know about selling on the Internet before they got started; they’re living proof that you don’t need to be an Internet marketing guru to start making money online. I am sure you, too, have a great idea that has been percolating in your brain. You just need to start.

Trait #2 - They focused on one thing and did it well.

The second common thread I want you to know about is that each one of these people focused on just one marketing strategy at a time, did it well, maximized profits, and then moved on to the next one. That’s why they also said that they know there is so much more they can do. There are many ways you can promote your web site:
· Some of them will give you a quick traffic boost (such as pay-per-click search engines);

· Others will establish your reputation more slowly (such as writing articles and providing free content for other webmasters);

· While others (such as finding strategic partners who will link to your site) will pay off well into the future for the work you do today.
That’s the good news! You don’t have to put a lot of pressure on yourself believing that you have to do it all or know it all.

To follow their lead, focus on just one marketing strategy such as submitting your site to the search engines, publishing your own newsletter, or learning about how to write effective sales copy… and then really master it. Learn all you can and apply the knowledge as you learn it. This is how you can generate $100,000+ from your online business — by focusing on one marketing strategy at a time.

Start by choosing the theme of your web site and then strive to become the dominant site serving your niche market. Next, make a list of all the different ways to increase the sales to your web site and then decide which one will make you the most money and start with that one. Leave the rest on your “to-do” list until you have squeezed every dollar out of the traffic generation technique, sales strategy, or design element you are working on. There will always be loads of other ideas just waiting for you to use to earn even more profits.

Trait# 3 - They wish they had modeled success sooner.

These successful candidates confess to having made mistakes — costly, frustrating, and time wasting mistakes that could have been easily avoided. This is the hard way to learn. After all, you don’t have to be the one who makes the mistake to learn from it. It is much easier to learn from other people’s mistakes. They all said that they could have been earning a MUCH bigger income MUCH faster if they had only started their Internet education earlier and modeled the success of others.

And that leads us to the third common thread I want to share with you which is… all of these people have committed to educating themselves in the most profitable marketing strategies and techniques. You don’t need to personally conduct your own “trial and error” experiments to discover what software to use, which online resources are the most helpful, or which overall web site designs are producing the best results in today’s competitive Internet environment.

Others have already cut a path through the Internet jungle for you. Just get on the right trail and apply the strategies and techniques as you learn about them. Great ideas are transferable. What works for others can be adapted for your site, too.

Final Thoughts:

Building a successful online business is more of a journey than a destination. What works today may or may not work tomorrow. That’s why the learning process never stops. The fact that the Internet continuously changes is the number one advantage you have over your competition if you stay ahead of the learning curve and they don’t.

Make a commitment to continuous learning. Study top sites like the ones on Secrets To Their Success and model your web site after them. These successful entrepreneurs are regular people who did not start out with multi-million dollar advertising budgets, huge staffs, or advanced technical knowledge. In fact, most of them started out with almost no budget, by themselves, and with little prior knowledge of marketing on the Internet.

Your site does not have to be perfect to make money, but you can’t make money until you start!

ARE EXCUSES HOLDING YOU BACK

The funny thing about excuses is they can make even the wisest of men look like a fool.

Have you ever been expecting promised results from someone when to your bewilderment they only produced excuses. Well, no matter how well thought out or extravagant they sound to the person giving them, they always look foolish to the one on the receiving end.

As far as behavioral patterns are concerned I would say there are two categories; one produces results and the other produces excuses. Both kinds of people are very predictable. That’s because these are behaviors embedded in the very character of a person. You know that if the first kind of person tells you they are on the job its as good as knowing satisfaction is guaranteed. And of course in the very same way the second type of person no matter what they promise typically always produces to their own determent the same sorry excuses.

Excuses are a terrible type of achievement destroying cancer that ruins the potentials of all who fall victim to it’s grip. It’s one of those character flaws or habitual deformities that not only destroys one’s future but their reputation as well.

We’ve all listened to an ear full from the people that go on and on about how no one appreciates their efforts and they work so hard but no one sees. These are the same people that when asked about the goals they’ve achieved or the results they’ve produced there just doesn’t seem to be any significant results to show for.

Do NOT mistake your efforts for results! Do NOT be one of those people who always has an excuse ready but no real drive to produce.

Do NOT allow excuses to destroy the potential of everything you are capable of achieving.

Responsibility is the victorious side. It’s never too late to cross over! Success is the inevitable result of responsible living.

In life, in relationships, in business! Cheers!

WHAT IS YOUR ATTITUDE LIKE?

Michael is the kind of guy you love to hate. He is always in a good Mood, and always has something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, "If I were any better, I would be Twin’s!" He was a natural motivator. If an employee was having a bad day, Michael was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation.

Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Michael and asked him, "I don't get it! You can't be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?" Michael replied, "Each morning I wake up and say to myself! You have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or... you can choose to be in a bad mood. I choose to be in a good mood.

Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or.... I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it. Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or... I can point out the positive side of life. I choose the positive side of life.

"Yeah, right, it's not that easy," I protested. "Yes, it is," Michael, said. "Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It's your choice how you live your life."

I reflected on what Michael said. Soon thereafter, I left the Tower Industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but I often thought about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it.

Several years later, I heard that Michael was involved in a serious accident, falling some sixty feet from a communications tower. After eighteen hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, Michael was released from the hospital with rods placed in his back. I saw Michael about six months after the accident. When I asked him how he was, he replied, "If I were any better, I'd be twins. Want to see my scars?" I declined to see his wounds, but I did ask him what had gone through his mind as the accident took place.

"The first thing that went through my mind was the well-being of my soon to be born daughter, "Michael replied. "Then, as I lay on the ground, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live or I could choose to die. I chose to live!"

"Weren't you scared? Did you lose consciousness?" I asked. Michael continued,"...the paramedics were great”. They kept telling me I was going to be fine, But when they wheeled me into the ER I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses. I got really scared. In their eyes, I read, "he's a dead man." I knew I needed to take action.

"What did you do?" I asked. "Well, there was a big burly nurse shouting questions at me. She asked if I was allergic to anything. "Yes," I replied. The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled, "Gravity." Over their laughter, I told them, "I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead."

Michael lived, thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude. I learned from him that everyday we have the choice to live fully. Attitude, after all, is everything. "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

(Matthew 6:34) Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.

FRIEND SPAMING

One of the things that I have become (begrudgingly) used to in forums and networking groups is the overwhelming number of ads I see. Now, I am not talking about people posting ads as forum content, I am referring to ads sent as a personal message after friendship has been accepted, or as an invitation itself.

I don't know about you, but I join forums and networks to meet people; people I can share ideas with. I definitely do not join them to meet business opportunities or sales pitches from strangers who have asked me to be their friend. That is not networking. That is advertising; poor advertising.

System emailer's are not ad blasters; at least they weren't meant to be. Sadly, that is what they've become in many places.

In one particular forum, after having posted of my home dilemma and asking for help through a $5.00 purchase of my book, I have suffered a deluge of business opportunity offers that I had never imagined possible. It really freaks me out, and this is why:

I wrote about the fact that I am about to be a foreclosure statistic. My husband is unemployed due to the housing market collapse, and these folks seem to think I have money to invest in a program, or opportunity. I'm having trouble keeping Cheerios on the table and a roof over that table, and I'm supposed to invest (what?) in the latest greatest...

Now, not everyone has responded with such out-thereness, and I appreciate every last person who has helped me in my mission to save my house. There have been many who have answered my call, and to you: I think you're totally awesome! Thank you! Some of you have bought my book and even liked it! Some of you are promoting my book along with me, even though there is no commission in it for you. Some of you have done both. I love you all. I couldn't ask for better friends than you.

To those of you who are enjoying the paperback version, please let me know what you think of the book itself. The quality of the printing. I think the printers did a good job, but my opinion doesn't matter here; yours does.

I have a goal to sell 30,000 copies of the book I self-published last year. When I do this, unless it takes too long, I will be able to save my home, and fix my car. I may also be able to send a little cash to my 19 year old son, for college expenses. (He just lost his job too, when the price of copper fell, the mine started laying off.)

So I am flat broke, and people think it is helpful to send me offers to spend money? I just don't get it. Why did they invite me to be friends? Why do they read what I write? Do they even read it, or just skim through it to make sure I'm not their competition?

Networking is about building relationships with like-minded people; it's about learning and sharing information; its not about selling. Get to know those you invite to be friends. Get to know those who have invited you to be friends; the people, not the products. You might learn something, or help someone else. Now, that's networking.

It's not about the number of friends you have, it is about the quality of the friends you have. To have good quality friends, you must first be a quality friend.

BECOME A NETWORK MARKETER FULL TIME

To be a full-time network marketer is possible for you, if you want. You need to educate yourself on how to market and you need a system that will help you automate much of it, but not all.

People don’t want just to be a person in a system. But they want to get a system when they start and that can be to much help in the future.

It’s ok when you get one prospect a day, you can afford to call that person when he /her ask for it. Or just give him a call to ask how it goes.....

But to build a big organization you need maybe people coming to you, because many of them will not be interested in what you are doing.

You want to get in touch with those who show an interest. And to find them you need a system that picks them for you. Then you can call them or write to them to see if they have a big interest that you want if you should get them into your business organization. You don't want everybody! Not for the big building. But some of them who have no experience with MLM or Network Marketing will maybe in the future be the BEST person in your organization, maybe better than you too! So be aware, don’t say NO to anyone, but ask them if they are ready to learn if they are teach them!

Here is something that will educate you.

BUILDING YOUR MLM BUSINESS

To build your fortune in MLM (or any other business), you've got to look at it long-term. You must remember you are in for the long haul and not to be an overnight success.

Yes, you want to do everything you can to be profitable as quickly as possible. But you need to plan for how you will build your business week after week, month after month, and year after year. You must remember you want to have long term success.

People tell you they aren't looking to "get rich quick", but if they aren't making fistfuls of money within 6-8 weeks, they're history. Anything good takes time.

People need to be realistic. Most people come into MLM without a database contacts. To build an MLM business, you must have that database--- or if you don't, you have to take the time to build it.

You must remember, no one will care about you until they know how much you care about them.

The first thing you need is to build trust with well-targeted prospects. You do that by giving them value--- something that doesn't cost you anything, but which is very valuable to the person you give it to. You could use an ebook, audio, video, or other piece of content or information that brings value to your prospect's life, or the life of his business. In exchange, they give you their contact information and permission to contact them. As Humphrey Bogart said in "Casablanca," it's "the beginning of a beautiful relationship!"

To make your fortune in network marketing, you have to plan long-term. Most people figure, "I'll just try this for a while." Chances of that working for them are not good.

First, it's key to focus on the idea of building relationships and to realizing that relationships take a "forever" commitment.

You never hear anybody say they'll try marriage for 3 months and see if it works out. There is no doubt that network marketing works, when you use a proven system in a proven company.

Blogging is a great way to help people by giving them great information they can use. Next, you have to strengthen the commitment--- yours and others'.

Identify each task that you'll be doing. Use a calendar to schedule the time each day that you'll be doing those tasks. Where will you be? Who can you reach to quickly answer questions? You need to be able to talk to someone who is actually using your system and getting good results with it.

The 12 Pillars of Success

Jim Rohn and Chris Widener wrote a book called “The 12 Pillars”. It offered some food for thought. The twelve pillars are the twelve foundational basics for success.

I thought you might like to hear what they are:

1) The only way things are going to change for you is when YOU change! This relates to personal development! Success comes when you develop yourself beyond where you currently are.

2) Make sure that the outside of you is a good reflection of the inside. This pertains to total well being in your body, soul and spirit.

3) "Time, effort and imagination must be summoned constantly to keep any relationship flourishing and growing. Make the most of the Gift of Relationships."

4) Achieve your goals! The major reason that you set goals, id for what it makes of you to accomplish them!

5) Time management. Spend time on the activities that align with your goals.

6) Hang out with the right people (ie this group :) ). Spend time with people who have high expectations of you and where the demands to perform are high.

7) Be a life long learner! Self education is the key. Mike Dillard always says the most successful people are always the ones with the largest libraries.

8) All of life is sales! Influence is the key to a successful life. Learn the art and skill of influencing others.

9) "What you become directly influences what you get." Your income seldom exceeds your personal development.

10) "Communication brings the common ground of understanding." Learn to communicate and more importantly learn to truly LISTEN!

11) Be a leader! "To lead others is to help them change their thoughts, beliefs and actions for the better."

12) Leave a legacy." Live a life that serves as an example of what an exceptional life can look like."

Hope these help and you can get the book HERE.

ATTRACTION MARKETING

Attraction marketing is a form of unadvertising advertising embraced by network marketers and in fact, by marketers in all areas of the selling arena. It flies in the face of traditional methods taught for many years about the best way to gain customers and it outperforms the teachings.

The base of attraction marketing is the belief that most people really like to shop, but hate to be sold to, even if the need the product. But, they love to buy from a friend. The solution then, is to gain a friend.

This is turning around the business of thousands of network marketers. If you had problems and could not even break even before can now learn the process of attraction marketing and making more money than you ever thought possible.

What is the magic of attraction marketing? It will turn the table on the whole selling process. Instead of you hunting down prospects and alienating friends and family, with attraction marketing people will seek you out. They’ll be ready in most cases to buy or sign up. This is the great power attraction marketing has.

You need to learn the teachings of attraction marketing to draw your customers and prospects to you. This will stop you from chasing after them. You’ll pull people towards you that already want what you’re selling.

The old methods consisted of introducing friends and family first to the product or business opportunity. Then there was the “10 - 5 Rule”, which basically says you make eye contact with everyone you come with in 10 feet of and start talking when they get within 5 feet. And then there was the good old cold calls, and all the money you spent buying leads. Wasn’t that fun? Remember every NO gets you closer to a YES. Sure it does. Ha Ha!

The problem with the old methods is that they make you approach people who have never shown an interest in you or what you are promoting. And the conversion rate is typically quite low and the fall out rate is high. Which is why ‘It’s all about the numbers’ is repeated over and over again within network marketing circles. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Attraction marketing can change all that and the Internet is your greatest ally. You can use a website, blog , newsletter, article marketing, even webinars to attract potential prospects to you. Giving your prospects valuable information once they’ve found you will start the almost automatic filtering process. Those who aren’t interested won’t pursue it any further.

They’re the ones who would cut you off in mid sentence to tell you they’re not interested. With attraction marketing, you don’t have to encounter these folks. On the other hand, the ones who are interested will continue. They’ll sign up for more information or buy the product because they already have some level of desire for what you’re offering. Your conversion rates with these prospects will just keep getting better and better.

Attraction marketing is changing forever the way independent marketers approach the business of gaining customers. The whole sales mindset is changing as well. Savvy marketers seek ways to serve their prospects first. It’s that service that helps turn the prospect into a loyal customer.

CHANGE YOUR SELF-IMAGE (TALK). WHAT YOU TELL YOURSELF!

Knowing where you are and where you want to get to helps you succeed in life. To achieve this you need positive affirmations. These are statements that describe your goal in its already completed state. Negative thoughts easily become a false personal truth. Every thought you think and every word you say is an affirmation. So, to attain success you must change your self-talk with affirmations.

To be effective, your affirmations should be constructed using the following guidelines:
1. Start with the words I (Your Name) am.
2. State it in the positive. Affirm what you want, leave negative words and what you don't want. Not, I don’t have a cluttered desk. But, I am well organized and keep a well organized desk.
3. Make it a fast read. Keep it brief.
4. Use the present tense.
5. Include an action word ending with –ing.
6. Make it specific. You don’t want lots of money. You want $100,000 or One Million Dollars.
7. Make affirmations for yourself, not others. Always use your name!
8. Include at least one dynamic emotion or feeling word. Words like exhilarated, happy, excited, peaceful. Also emotional action words like enjoy doing, feel great achieving, love working with, etc.

Whenever you are doing your affirmations, it is not uncommon to have competing thoughts (objections), such as Whom are you kidding? You could never do that. You don’t have the education to do that. You have to have money to make money. You need to first change you way of thinking of about yourself.

I have a Positive Self Talk that can help. Email me at: mahlongrube@gmail.com and I will send you a free copy. Include your full name when you ask for a copy. If you still think of a negative objection, write that objection down. Then you can close your eyes and just release the thought and the emotions that accompany it. Remember, constantly fill your mind with images of what you want and picture yourself already having them. Remember, affirmations will help you change your mindset, open up the doors to greater perception and increase your motivation to take action toward your goals—create yours today!

How Do Search Engines Work - Web Crawlers

It is the search engines that finally bring your website to the notice of the prospective customers. Hence it is better to know how these search engines actually work and how they present information to the customer initiating a search.

There are basically two types of search engines. The first is by robots called crawlers or spiders.

Search Engines use spiders to index websites. When you submit your website pages to a search engine by completing their required submission page, the search engine spider will index your entire site. A spider is an automated program that is run by the search engine system. Spider visits a web site, read the content on the actual site, the sites Meta tags and also follow the links that the site connects. The spider then returns all that information back to a central depository, where the data is indexed. It will visit each link you have on your website and index those sites as well. Some spiders will only index a certain number of pages on your site, so don’t create a site with 500 pages

The spider will periodically return to the sites to check for any information that has changed. The frequency with which this happens is determined by the moderators of the search engine.

A spider is almost like a book where it contains the table of contents, the actual content and the links and references for all the websites it finds during its search, and it may index up to a million pages a day.

Example Excite, Lycos, AltaVista and Google.

When you ask a search engine to locate information, it is actually searching through the index which it has created and not actually searching the Web. Different search engines produce different rankings because not every search engine uses the same algorithm to search through the indices.

One of the things that a search engine algorithm scans for is the frequency and location of keywords on a web page, but it can also detect artificial keyword stuffing or spamdexing. Then the algorithms analyze the way that pages link to other pages in the Web. By checking how pages link to each other, an engine can both determine what a page is about, if the keywords of the linked pages are similar to the keywords on the original page.

What can you do in direct sales/MLM to be "rare", and "adored by many"? You don't really have to be either one. It's all about perception.

What is Network Marketing?

Network Marketing is the newest and most descriptive term for what many of us know as "multi-level marketing" or MLM. I can predict that when you read those three little letters, you had one of two reactions -- extremely negative or extremely positive. But read on . . . Network Marketing has evolved and since the advent of the internet, has become the most successful business model ever created.

Network Marketing is a business plan which compensates those who choose to join with a company and promote both the products/services of that company AND the business opportunity itself. In some respects it very much resembles having a business franchise, yet being able to also sell those franchises to others.

Network Marketing compensation is determined in many ways. There are many, many variations on the basic multi-level business concept. But in most, you are compensated for the volume of business you do, as well as for the business volume of people you sponsor into the business.

This "personal line of sponsorship" can extend for many "levels" with each level containing the recruited members of the person above them. For instance you are level 0, everyone you recruit is level 1, everyone they recruit is level 2 and so on.

This makes it possible for one person (you) to be able to receive a percentage on the sales of hundreds or even thousands of other members. This basic concept has been taken to great heights and a huge volume could be written about the hundreds of compensation plans out there.

At BetterWebBuilder they have combined the best features of network marketing with affiliate marketing to create a hybrid system that gives you the flexibility to create a model that works for you.
